The review of a civil urban transport in Kiev

Kiev has the most extensive transport road junction among other cities of Ukraine up to the present day. And this is not surprising, because it is the capital of Ukraine.

But nevertheless, it is far to the European standards, and it meets the requirements only to some extent.

There is the following transport in Kiev:

Tram

It is one of the oldest types of transport, but nevertheless it is the most eccentric. Kiev is not the first city in Ukraine where trams appeared, but there are many tram-lines.

They circularly include central part of the capital and come to the bedroom community of the city. Service in trams wishes to be better; there are not conditioners, soft seats. But for all that, it is the most suitable transport for pensioners, I don’t know why, but above all I meet them there. To the present day fare makes 1, 50 UAH (20 cent).

Trolleybus

It does not yield to the tram fare (1, 50 UAH (20 cent). It is possible to reach much farther and more comfortable by a trolleybus. About several years, old trolleybuses are substitute for new. The last one meet the requirements of the European standards, have soft seats, equipped with conditioners, and low road clearance for people with the limited possibilities. So if you want to sweep across the capital of Ukraine in a civil transport, then I advise you exactly to choose a trolleybus.

Circular taxi

It is lion’s share among all transportation in Kiev, and it is near 50%. First of all it is caused of the crowded schedule, run in peak hours with an interval of 3-5 minutes. Fare is fluctuating from 1, 50 UAH (20 cent) to 2, 50 UAH (30 cent). Comfort is average between a trolley bus and a tram. Thus the driver of Kiev’s circular taxi can simultaneously do the following: to drive, to accept a fare, to count up money, and to speak on the phone. And in any way it does not affect on a traffic safety.

Metro

It is type of transport which makes a competition to the circular taxi. Metro, except Kiev, it is also in Kharkov. But there are far less stations than in Kiev

In Kiev, there are counted about 50 stations, many of them is not put into operation. It is difficult to get in Metro in peak hours, but quite possible. Fare in Kiev’s Metro makes 1, 70 UAH (25 cent). Metro include all Kiev, and it is the fastest means of travel in Kiev.
